General

How much space do I need to use Peeka?

Users should give themselves enough space to turn around (while in a seated position) comfortably without obstacles like home decor, electronics, walls, furniture, etc.

How much physical space do I need to use Peeka?

Because user visibility is extremely limited while wearing a Peeka headset, Peeka is meant to be experienced from a seated position.

Can I use Peeka while in a moving vehicle?

Peeka is encouraged to be used in a stationary, seated position. While moving, like in a car or in an airplane, the VR functions in a smartphone (e.g. the gyroscope) are impacted and may affect VR usability.

How much does it cost?

Peeka is free to download, and uses tokens as the in-app currency to rent or purchase access to our VR experiences. Rentals average about $1.00 per 12-hour rental, and purchases cost about $10 for unlimited access. Separately, our headsets retail for $25 on our shop.

What do I need to use Peeka?

To get started, you need a smartphone and a mobile-VR headset. Headphones are also encouraged. Compatible phones include both Android and Apple devices, mostly made within the last 4-5 years (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7).

What's the average age range for Peeka users?

Headset

What do I do if I wear glasses?

You can choose to keep your glasses on or take them off depending on how much you need them. Most users who need their glasses wear them while wearing Peeka headsets, and use the IPD sliders / tabs on either side to find their sweet spots. NOTE: If you do wear glasses with your Peeka headset, your glasses may be pressed against your face.

Why is it blurry?

Use the tabs on either side of your Peeka headset to find the sweet spot on you or your child's headset. If you're helping someone who is wearing the headset to make it less blurry, adjust the tabs on either side until the user says it looks clear. The "sweet spot" is different for every user, as their eyes are all different.

Where can I buy a headset?

You can purchase a Peeka headset on our website. www.peekavr.com/shop. For Magenta Kids families, check with your program leaders for more details on how to get replacement headsets, or check back on this page for updates.

Is the headset waterproof?

The cardboard Peeka headset is not waterproof, and use near any water including rain is discouraged.

What do I do if my headset breaks?

Peeka cardboard headsets are not replaceable. If your headset breaks in a way that isn’t a user-based error (e.g. a force-induced tear, rip, or hole), contact Support for information on how to repair.

How should I store my headset?

Store your headset safely so that it doesn’t get smashed, smushed or crushed. The lenses are not sensitive to light. You can also fold your headset down and replace it back into the box it came in.

What makes the Peeka VR headset special?

We designed the Peeka VR headset with all users in mind, especially kids. We’ve added a couple neat features to that end. First, the headset is shaped to fit well to children’s faces. Second, we know kids’ eyes are closer together than adults, so we included the tabs / sliders on either side of the headset to adjust the Interpupillary Distance (IPD) and find as crisp of an image as possible. We’ve also added nose and face padding for a comfortable experience, and a strap for hands-free usage (all missing on Google Cardboard).

The headset is uncomfortable.

Make sure the headset is properly situated on the users head, with the headstrap at the proper size and properly sitting above the IPD tabs. Adjust headset band sizing with the headset OFF the head to protect hair and scalp.

Can I use other VR headsets for Peeka?

You can use any mobile phone-compatible VR headset with Peeka.
